WHAT THE ART MEANS

Same wraparound design as the black mug, redrawn for white ceramic. The background is pure white so it disappears into the cup, and deep lapis blue does the work the black used to do — the stars and outlines are blue instead of glowing gold on dark. One side has the Virgo symbol in a gold cartouche with VIRGO beneath it and the real Virgo constellation above. The other side is a maiden in profile holding a bundle of wheat, wearing a dress banded with lapis-blue stars. Columns of wheat, lotus flowers, and ankhs frame the handle. The wheat is the oldest symbol for Virgo. Its brightest star, Spica, is named for a head of grain. A cartouche is the oval, rope-edged frame Egyptians carved around a name that mattered, so putting the zodiac symbol inside one treats your sign like a name worth protecting.

The whole Ancient Egypt collection is drawn in antique gold, sandstone, and teal with deep lapis blue, printed in a flat, carved-relief style like painted stone.
