WHAT THE ART MEANS

One big emblem fills the whole side of the bag, so it reads from across a room. A centaur — half man, half horse — rears at full draw, the bow bent and the arrow already loosed toward the top corner, his hair and his tail streaming out behind him. He is drawn not with lines but out of thousands of glowing gold particles and drifting indigo nebula gas — an apparition made of starlight rather than a picture of a rider. It is the most dynamic diagonal in the collection. Laid over him is the real Sagittarius constellation — bright gold stars joined by fine gold lines that land on the body. Veils of nebula spread out sideways as well as down, and fade to nothing well before the edges. Along the bottom sits the collection lockup: the Sagittarius glyph, a slim divider rule with star finials, SAGITTARIUS in letterspaced gold capitals, and the epithet THE FARTHEST ARROW in small caps beneath it. Nothing is printed behind the art — it goes straight onto black canvas, so the bag itself is the night sky. Most people who find Sagittarius in the sky do not see an archer at all — they see a teapot. Eight stars close into a lopsided pot with a spout, a lid and a handle, and the shape is so easy to pick out that it has its own name: the Teapot. It is drawn here exactly as it sits in the sky — one closed eight-sided ring with nothing at all inside it, which is unusual, because most zodiac star figures are open chains that never close. And the spout points almost exactly at the center of our galaxy: look just past it and you are looking through the thickest part of the Milky Way.

The sign’s figure is made entirely of light — glowing antique-gold particles and indigo nebula gas, with nothing outlined and nothing filled in solid. Over that figure sits the sign’s real constellation: the actual stars in their actual positions, joined by thin gold lines that land on the body. It is meant to feel like a page from a star atlas rather than fantasy art — quiet, dark, and precise.
