WHAT THE ART MEANS

The art wraps all the way around, and the black background blends into the black ceramic so the gold looks carved into the cup instead of stuck on it. One side is the name side: the Scorpio symbol in a gold cartouche, SCORPIO in worn gold letters underneath, and the real Scorpio constellation traced in fine gold lines above. Turn the mug and the other side is a scorpion with its tail raised in a sharp, clean shape, under a gold crescent moon. Slim columns of stars, lotus flowers, and ankhs frame each side of the handle. The crescent moon adds the quiet, night-time side of Scorpio, and the raised tail keeps the shape sharp and easy to recognize.
